  2. Age limits: Candidates must be at least 21 years of age to take the CSE. And the upper age limit varies depending on the category to which the candidate belongs. For example, the upper age limit for general category candidates is 32 years. While it is 37 years for candidates belonging to certain reserve categories.
  3. Physical fitness: Candidates must also be physically fit in order to be eligible to take the CSE. The UPSC has specific medical standards that candidates must meet in order to be consider fit for service.
  4. Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens to be eligible to take the CSE.
  5. Number of attempts: The number of attempts that a candidate is allow to take the CSE also varies depending on their category. For example, general category candidates are allow a maxmum of six attempts. While candidates belonging to certain reserve categories are allow nine attempts.
  6. Language proficiency: Candidates must also be proficient in either English or Hindi. As the CSE is conduct in these languages.
